I was contacted by Best Way Auto Transport after an inquiry for shipping my vehicle. We agreed on door to door shipment. The cost would be $758.00 Our account would soon be debited $158, with the remainder owed to the trucker ($600.) upon delivery. The trucker arrived at the pick-up site 1 day early (Thursday). He told me the car would be delivered on Saturday. (2 days later). The car never arrived to my door. I called that Tuesday and spoke to a man who said he would call the trucker and find out the info on it. 2 days later we call back and a lady tells me that the trucker will call me 24 hours prior to arriving. So.. we wait. Monday comes and my wife calls the company asking where the car is. The lady transfers her to someone else. That person hears what has been going on and he transfers her again. This time a completely different lady gets on the phone and says, "are you aware that it takes 10 to 14 days for the car to get there?" My wife explains to her that the trucker told us it would have been here over a week ago. She says ok, let me get your phone number and we'll call you back when we figure out what is going on.
Two hours go by and we get a call stating that the trucker could not be reached but that a message was left on his phone. We wait... again...
Today we get a phone call from the trucker. We thought he would be delivering our truck to us but come to find out... the car had been here since Sunday and the trucker left the car with his "friend" who would watch the car until we could be reached. He apparently had the wrong phone number for our home. He said we would have to talk to this "friend" of his about getting the car and paying him the $600.
We called the company and told them that the car was supposed to be shipped door to door and we are still waiting for the car. The company put me on hold and then hung up on me. I called back and she immediately transferred me to a lady who obviously couldn't help me, and then I was finally able to speak to Shelly Fishman. I'm not sure if it is a made-up name or not but this person basically told me that it was my fault for not giving them the correct phone number and to go pick the car up from where it was left. He continued to make VERY RUDE remarks and I got very angry. My wife took the phone and had to calm him down after he said, "look, you people..." he called us idiots, and stupid. He said that we are stupid for buying a car through the internet because they are all a piece of crap. My wife said she was going to speak to our attorney about the matter and he said you can call and tell President Bush for all I care. He also stated that we screwed ourselves that it's our problem not theirs and he could care less what happened. We want our money returned because we were paying door to door service and never got the car. We contacted the person who has the car now and he is charging us for keeping the car at his house. $35.!! He said he's being nice because he could charge us a daily rate and that the car has been here not since this past Sunday but since the Sunday before. Meaning that the entire time we had been calling the company, the car was here. I now have to pay $758. plus $35.00 to some "friend" of the trucker and when I called the company to let them know that we had called about the car 3 times when the car was here, the same guy, Shelly Fishman hung up on me as soon as I told him who I was. I called back and he said, "look what do you want?" I first asked for an apology. He said, "I apologize" very sarcastically. He asked me again later after I became speechless. I told him I want my money back because I didn't receive what I had paid for. He said I was not a relative or family member and he wasn't going to give me a penny.
I have an appointment with my attorney tomorrow afternoon and after seeing so many other people have complaints posted, I'm only angry that I didn't see them before. I still don't have my "piece of crap car" as Mr Fishman calls it (no, he's never seen my car).
