Reasonable but late

The truck (Downsouth Auto) was dispatched quickly and car was picked up on time. Truck broke down in Michigan, conveniently near where the drivers sister lives (?) and spent a week and half plus waiting for parts, waiting for tools, waiting for the right tools etc.

I called the driver the day before the scheduled delivery to find out if he was going to be on time and only then found out that he had broken down. He said he meant to call me but hadn't gotten to it yet (which continued to be the case for any further progress updates throughout the next 1.5 weeks).

Finally the car arrived and I had expected it to be dirty. What I didn't expect was for it to be covered in large pools of sticky oil that had dripped on it from the crappy car above it. Luckily it wasn't brake fluid or the paint job would have been ruined. As it was, the paint did get some scratches in it trying to get the gooey mess off of it.

Liz at Bear's was fine and efficient and I understand that it isn't Bear's fault about the breakdown or the oil on my car so I'm not leaving a terrible review. There is no way I'd use Downsouth Auto (the actual trucker) again as from what I can see they really don't care about the cars they transport. So the review stars will be mid pack for Bears given they picked the trucker.

Kevin, Thank you for not including me in the negative part of your review. We are sorry to hear about the oil that had gotten onto your vehicle. Sometimes these drivers do pick up at Co-parts and Insurance Auto Auctions, so if the vehicle was a large unit it had to go on top- due to weight distribution for the trailer-which is priority. What these drivers are not are auto mechanics, so they cannot get under vehicles and check all vehicles for leaks - they do try to do their best , so that no vehicles do get damaged. We understand this is not your reflection on Bears but more so on probably the cst with vehicle that leaked. As far as time frames , trucks will and can break down - it cost them money to be down - so I am sure whatever part he needed -it was the soonest he could get it. Keep in mind these trucks drive 3000 plus miles weekly. We appreciate your comments and hope that you will still consider us as a broker should you need transport again.
