I have to say, after reading random stories online of some people's shipping experiences, I was honestly expecting the worst to happen during the process. It all turned out well! RIchard got in touch with me and gave me the information I needed to make a decision. I was moving out of my place during the window of time I gave them for my vehicle pickup, and was going to move to an aunt's house, so they were patient with my address updates. The only pain was the pickup window necessarily has to be several days long and you don't know when the carrier will come until the night before. However, AS doesn't control that and they're trying to act as the best mediators they can, it seems, so I can sympathize. The carrier did insist on meeting only in areas with wide open parking lots or boulevards so we had to make sure the pickup location was suitable for him. The people at AutoStar were all polite and willing to answer my multiple after-thought questions. Really, all went as planned so I don't have any complaints. When we move back to CA in a couple years, I'll use AutoStar if we we haven't sold our car by then. I like going with tried and tested companies and they passed the test this time around!
