For all of the first timers let me share my experience and knowledge. I had originally signed a contract with a random company off the internet for $929.00 (Direct Express Auto Transport). I assumed they owned a truck and it was a done deal and my vehicle would ship when there driver was heading in my direction, wrong! Almost all the internet companies are brokers and not actual "transportation companies". What this means is they take your order, take a hefty fee, and list the contract on a site like Central Dispatch. From there a actual shipper decides if your contact is in there direction and if it is profitable, that being said the original contract I had was way to cheap and therefore never picked up as it was basically across the country for I'm guessing 700 dollars. Direct Auto required a 179.00 deposit and the balance to be paid cod upon delivery. After seven business days and not a single curtsory call I decided to look into other shipping avenues. I had entered my information into a website that offered several different bids and holy cow did they come beating down my doors, I am still receiveing emails. Jason with 123 had contacted me and in a medium pressure (would not say high pressure) sales pitch about the company's reputation with a higher price than the original contract. He at the time assured me that he would drop the price 50 to 100 dollars if the opposing companies contact did not offer refunds on deposits because his company would never take a deposit up front! So I sent him my contract and of course they offered refunds and Jason acknowledged his wrongfulness and offered to take 25 dollars off and not the 50 to 100 as promised, seem like a cheap sale tactic? I told him the market on my contract was much lower and I would keep looking. After another day of no phone calls from Direct I had figured out that I would never get my truck hauled across country for 700 it just wasn't going to happen in the time frame I wanted it to. I truly believe if I had waited and been patient some one would have finally taken the contract but since I could not be patient I called Jason back and asked him what it would take to get this done, he told me 1225 (no up front deposit) and he would gaurentee pickup within three days. I received a call less than two hours later from a driver, I thought it was strange because I hadn't received the email as promised so I called Jason to confirm this was his subcontractor and it was. The driver was in the exact city of pick up and lived less than thirty minutes away from my home. It only made sense that he deliver my truck as he was headed home anyways. Jason charged my credit card 325 (most likely 123's fee) and the remaining to be cod. I true believe that if I had left my original contract in place the same driver would have picked it up and I would have saved 300 dollars. It was delivered on a open trailer by its self and delivered in great condition. What it boils down to is, is the contract profitable and does it match the drivers direction. Jason delivered on his promise and I was asked to complete a survey so he could collect a bonus. The company was relentless in calling and emailing for me to complete this, not happy about this, it seems to be another tactic? There persistence paid off in the end. My bottom line is Jason delivered (even though I believe it was coensidence that it happened so quickly, I'm almost positive all brokers do is drop a line and wait for the fish to bite) and my vehicle was delivered in great condition as I stated. Was there anything that set them apart from another company,? maybe, maybe not but it was my first time after all. Next time I would deal with a less invasive company with less pushy sells and survey tendencies. 0 out of ten I rate them a 6 above average. I hope this was helpful, thank you for your time.
