Yes I got my cars but it wasn't an easy process!

I'm not sure where things went wrong so I'll just review by giving a timeline of what happened. On May 9th I booked with Lance to move my SUV from NC to CA for $1200 the first week of June. Towards the end of May, before our cross country move, we were trying to decide if we should ship our 2nd car or sell it. On May 28th Lance quoted $2100 to ship both cars. $900 seemed reasonable to hold onto it so we agreed to add the 2nd car. I was nervous about not being in California in time to take delivery so we set the pickup date for June 6th with 1-2 days before or after that date for leeway. That's what his email says.

On Friday, June 6th we still didn't have any contact with our truck and now Lance said that the cost would be $3350, $1675 per car! An increase of $1200 plus he failed to mention that his $250 broker fee is on top of that. We'd already flown out to our new place and left the cars with neighbors. We were stuck and had to accept the increase. He said he'd reduce the broker fee to $150 but I was charged $250 on my credit card.

The shipper was Abraham Express. I could never get a straight answer on when pickup would be. I felt like I was the tail wagging the dog because I'd have to chase Lance down to let him know we still hadn't been picked up. He'd seem surprised and get back to me. I was told by Lance that pickup would be on Saturday the 7th, then Monday the 9th, then Thursday the 11th. On Saturday the 14th we finally made contact with the driver who made it sound like he was minutes away. I had to scramble to reach my neighbors in Charlotte who'd been playing hot potato with my car keys to be home and on call all week since we never knew when the truck was coming. They got the cars ready and then the dispatch called to say the truck was coming but it was actually in Virginia. It was 4pm and Virginia is a 7 hr drive away. Then they called back and said to plan for the next morning. The truck FINALLY arrived and picked up the cars without incident. They arrived in CA in 7 days and drop off was fine. I got a call the night before. We set a place to meet and he was early. The cars were on the bottom of the truck, not the top as I'd requested. They were very dirty and one had a large spot of auto fluid on the hood that did wash off. Otherwise they were in good shape. So yes I did get my cars moved without damage but the process was a nightmare and I had to rent a car for a week. I wish I'd dealt directly with a shipper.

Lance Staab 360-940-7941. lance@autoshippinggroup.com Haly, I am so sorry for your troubles with the carrier, I try to do my best to make everything go smoothly on my end. Sometimes certain carriers fail to know the importance of communication. I want to thank you for your comments.
