After receiving the following email I decided to pick AutoGuard to pick up one of my three cars going from CA to IL:

"The price to ship your 2002 BMW X5 on Open carrier from Orange, CA to Champaign, IL is $834. That is everything included taxes, tolls, gas and deposit. Your quote number is 4728-WP.

Remember: Do your research and the best price will not get your car picked up. A truck driver will not drive across country to profit $100. If it sounds too good to be true then it most likely is. We are "A" rated on the BBB and licensed, bonded and insured."

So you can imagine how surprised I was when I was informed that no driver wanted to pick my car up for that price. In fact, I was called to see if I would pay an additional $150 which of course I declined. I complained to the supervisor who then explained that the price was just a 'quote'. So I guess the email that stated 'That is everything included taxs, tolls, gas and deposit' wasn't exactly true.
I then received a call from Chris the Manager who again tried to bully me into accepting a higher price to ship the car and I agreed to $900. When I told him I would cancel the contract if they couldn't pick my car up at the $900 I was informed I would then forfeit my $175 deposit.

In the end, I paid $925 just to get it moved...they were right about one thing though...from their email "the best price will not get your car picked up"

We try to explain to all customers that we use an automated quoting system which is accurate and quotes a price that will get them picked up eventually. Sometimes a driver will call in and request more money. If they do, it is our obligation to advise the customer that we have a driver that will pick their vehicle up now and let them know how much they are asking. At no time does a customer have to take the higher price, it is completely up to the customer to wait for a driver at the price quoted or if in a hurry, they can take the driver who calls first. We make no additional money if the price goes up, that is the amount that the driver is requesting. Our fee is one fixed price for all shipped vehicles. With regards to this customer we had one for $150.00 more, customer declined. When the second driver called in a few days later requesting $90.00 additional dollars the customer accepted. If he had an issue with the price, he should have waited for another driver to call at his price. Regardless, we will always give our customers the choice of paying a little more to move it quicker if a driver calls in, rather than take the chance of getting them shipped past their request date.
