I used one of the web services that solicits quotes from several brokers, and received about 8 different quotes. Prices ranged anywhere from $700 to $1,050 to transport 1 vehicle from the San Francisco area to south-central Florida. The quote from Angels Moving Autos was $1,725 for 2 vehicles ($325 commission, $1,400 for the trucking company).
The quotes were somewhat overwhelming and left me unsure of who to contract with, so I turned to this site to see feedback on some of the brokers that had sent me quotes. Angels Moving Autos was the only broker that had consistently good reviews from their customers. Additionally, their quote fell just about in the middle of the range of prices received from all brokers. From a past experience when I bought a new car out of state and had it shipped, I learned the hard way that contracting at the lowest price can mean waiting weeks for a trucker to accept the price and pick up the vehicle.
After confirming the order with Angels Moving Autos, they called and told me that they would assign a carrier about 1 week before my first available pickup date. They were actually able to assign a carrier a little sooner than that and called to give me the trucker's information. Soon after that, the trucker called me to confirm the pickup date, which was in fact my first available pickup date as provided to Angels Moving Autos. The trucker (Fontecilla Trucking Inc) was local to my originating area, and was familiar with where to pick up my vehicles. The trucker arrived exactly ontime - a father and son team with a brand new tractor and car carrier. Very nice people! After loading the cars, we were given the estimated delivery date of 10/6. Later in the day, Angels Moving Autos called to make sure that the cars were picked up, and then about 5 days later to tell us that the trucker was on schedule to deliver on the date that we were given. The day before the scheduled delivery date, the trucker called to let me know that his son has become ill, and they had fallen a little behind schedule, as his son wasn't able to drive. He told me that the cars would be delivered on the scheduled date if possible, but no later than the next day. Sure enough, he called again on 10/6 to tell me that he would in fact drop the cars off later that day (10/6), and gave me a 2 hour window. Angels Moving Autos also left a voicemail for me, telling me the same thing. Once again, they arrived right on time. The cars were unloaded, and were in perfect condition (not nearly as dirty as I had expected).
All in all, this was an excellent experience - Angels Moving Autos gets an A-plus for excellent communication, fair pricing and sourcing a reliable, honest trucking company. The trucker (Fontecilla Trucking of Pleasanton, CA) deserves an A+++ for outstanding service, and going above and beyond for meeting their service commitment even when one of the drivers was too sick to drive.
I'm extremely happy!
