I had to ship my '95 Toyota 4Runner from SF California to Buff. New York and I had a pretty tight schedule to boot (not to mention winter in Upstate NY is not the time to be walking around and waiting for busses). After reading up on a few companies here at ATR I called around and got some quotes. Angels Moving Autos was actually the cheapest for open air transport (as uposed to closed, but that's used mostly for people with the kinds of cars with more HP than I have dinero) coming in at $1150. Still pricey, but it beats what it would have cost to drive a 15mpg car across the us.

If memory serves I paid $200 to Angels over the phone (as a scheduling fee, but part of the quoted totall) and the rest to the driver on delivery (the driver is contracted). The driver let me put stuff in the trunk insisting only that i put a blanket over it and that i be aware that somebody might break in to steal it at a truckstop. This could be cause for concern if you're putting your secret stash of gold bricks in your trunk, but as i was putting in only my collection of sophmoric student art, i doubted even the hungriest thief or the sheistiest driver would purloin. But, just to be safe, make sure you put the stuff in after the truck driver has arrived: that way you can make sure it's okay with him, and he can see clearly that these are not items of great value regardless. Also, if you plan put a little junk in the trunk, be aware that the driver is breaking some laws to let you do it so an unspoken contract is being forged: he alows you to do it, but is no longer responsible for damages.

All that aside, the car was dropped off within the 10-14 day estimate without any damage whatsoever. So I've got no complaints and would recomend them without a doubt.
