Communication Could Have Been Better

I arranged on 5/14 for a transport from GA to CA. Price was $1060. Karen at Angels said no problem when I asked for a 6/23 pickup. A week later they asked to move up the date 2 days- no problem. On 6/17 Angels called and said the driver had cancelled and the pickup would not happen on 6/21 as scheduled. They would call me with a new date.

I heard nothing for two weeks, until on 7/7 I called and spoke to Karen again. She said the increase in fuel costs were pinching everyone and no driver would take the transport on my car for original the price I was quoted by Angels Transport. First I heard of this I told her, asking why someone had not called me to tell me this was the reason for the delay. She wanted me to eat the $100 increase in costs, and I told her I thought the quoted price should be honored. After a little negotiating, Angels agreed to cover the majority of the increased costs. After the money issues were worked out, the car arrived in about 12 days, with no damage - very nice.

Net: Poor job of communicating status of the problem. I wonder how long it would have been before they proactively called me - I was the one who called to find out why two weeks had passed and no news. They could have done alot better communicating. Be sure to discuss the impact of any rising fuel prices on your car move and who will cover any increases.
