AmeriFreight: poor service - but not criminal

AmeriFreight is a broker, as are most advertised shippers. I discovered shipping companies use a common database to search for drivers. Brokers offering lower prices to ship cars offer less money to truck drivers, and are therefore given lower priority. When many trucks are using a particular route, this is not a problem, however, when a route is less well serviced, you could be in for a long wait. To get a driver, I ended up paying 30% more than the original estimate and had to endure a four week delay.

When reading AmeriFreight reviews in this site, it is worth noting that AmeriFreight insists that it does NOT compensate for reviews. However, reviewers are eligible for a $40 rebate. While this might adhere to the wording of the law, it does seem to violate its spirit.

I was unhappy with AmeriFreight for the following reasons:
1. I feel strongly that I was knowingly given an over-optimistic estimate of transportation times. It was only after I made enquiries about the delay was I informed that both my pick-up and drop-off locations were problematic.
2. No additional effort was made to help secure a carrier until I contacted their offices.
3. I am still waiting to be reimbursed from my deposit payment.

AmeriFreight are not dishonest in a criminal sense, and the driver who finally transported my vehicle was great.

We are sorry to hear that this customer had a poor experience with AmeriFreight. We are upfront with our customers about our Economy rate (our lowest) shipping rate; that it is a standby rate and could require flexibility with time and/or additional money to get it moved. Economy rate is designed who want us to work to get the best rate within an estimated time frame. It is true that we do not compensate for reviews. Customers can get the $40 rebate without leaving a review, if they just notify our office that they would rather not post a review. The $40 rebate is just a 'thank you' for shipping with AmeriFreight. All monies owed a customer will be paid by AmeriFreight.
