I started the process to get my vehicle shipped using Amerifreight a broker on 15 July, to have an inoperable car shipped around 1200 miles. I was quoted originally quoted $899 and I understood that it would probably be a little more than that. My first day for pickup was the 24th of July, a little over a week after it started. I tried to contact my agent a few times for updates and was always told “ I am trying”. 2 weeks after the process started I was getting ready to cancel the order and find another solution because I wasn’t getting any communication and felt like I was getting the runaround. On the day that I was going to cancel my order I got a call saying that someone would be dispatched and the price would be $1680. I was also told that if I didn’t accept this carrier that I probably wouldn’t get another one. At this point, I had already wasted over 2 weeks and I didn’t have the time to start the process all over. I felt like I was a little taken advantage of and strung along. I have shipped vehicles through a broker before and never had these issues. I chose Amerifreight because they had high reviews on a lot of pages including transportreviews.com. It might have been just my experience or the broker that I was given but I will never use this service again. The amount that I had to pay was almost double my original quote. The carrier ended up being great and delivered my car early and was very responsive. If you are going to use Amerifreight, just be prepared to wait a while and don’t be surprised if your final rate is double what they quote you.
