I was apprehensive about shipping my car from DC to San Diego as I had never done that before. I'm glad I used AmeriFreight Car Shipping to do it!!
My process to find a way to shipping went as such: I looked into sending on an auto train, but found out that was not really an option for the route I needed. I looked at reviews of the car shippers online, and found a list of a few that were rated high on three to four different sites. I went into more depth on these by next going to the BBB. Some things that led me to AmeriFreight were the high rating on BBB, the large number of five-star reviews, and the small number of complaints that were addressed by the company in what seemed to me as a reasonable way,. They have been in business for many years and had very few complaints.
I asked for a quote, and was in contact with Ben immediately. He was very pleasant and very helpful each step of the way, explaining everything, and answering my questions. He was upfront to tell me that the quote was the lowest that he ever saw for the route and my particular car and situation, but that it was likely that it would be more. That happened late on a Friday afternoon EDT. First thing Monday morning he called with the lowest quote from a driver that had a 99% rating. The quote was slightly more, but after considering other possible options, such as selling the car in DC and buying one in San Diego, I decided to ship it. The actual amount was about 35% more, not too bad with the original quote being low. Ben helped with the paperwork, recommended which insurance to take, and kept me informed each step of the way. He gave me the information on the driver and phone number. I give Ben an excellent five-star rating. The pickup date was in two days from then, a Wednesday, with a possible slip of 24 hours, and a delivery estimate of the following Monday.
I contactedthe driver, which turned out to be the shipping company office, who gave me the actual drivers name and number so we could communicate. The driver Ika was very pleasant and easy to work with. The driver told me that we would be there Wednesday in the afternoon, and would send me his status and a heads up before he arrived. I met him, and he inspected and wrote down the minor scratches. I agreed, took pictures, and watched I'm load the car, which went well. Turns out he said he would arrive Sunday, a day early, which worked well for me. He gave me an approximate widow for arrival time, then a hour heads up, and lastly that he was ten minutes away. The unloading went smoothly. I expected the car, and all was good. I signed the form, paid him, we talked a bit, and said a pleasant good bye. I give him five-stars as well.
Overall the service was excellent! I can't imagine it going better. My only issue was being nervous because I never had done this before. All good!! Thank you Ben!
