Understand The Process

It's important that you understand the process of this business so your expectations are reasonable and you remain flexible. You need to transport a car across country. You don't have the time or a friend to tag team the drive with you. You have no choice but to ship. Most likely it will be on an open carrier because an enclosed one doesn't make sense for most. It WILL get dirty. Road dirt. Weather related dirt. Don't spend time or money washing and detailing your car ahead of time and expect it to show up looking shiny and brand new. This company, like the rest in this line of business serve as a middleman (aka, broker) between you and the auto carrier. That is all. After you agree to a date of pickup and delivery and pay your deposit any changes are on you and it could impact the liability of the broker. It is 100% a crap shoot. I got lucky. Remember that the drivers are not just your driver, they are managing multiple vehicles, delivery locations, and schedules. Despite inflexibility and poor communication with the actual driver, my car arrived earlier than expected and damage free. I call that a win. Just be prepared to adjust on the fly to their schedule. This is not the time to be a prima donna -- they are working to get a job done to get paid just like the rest of us. If your broker doesn't tell you initially (mine didn't) know that the drivers have a two day window to pickup and to deliver. Be flexible. As others have said you will be hounded to give a review - I assume this is true for all of these companies. Overall, I found communication with AmeriFreight to be responsive and professional. It's worth 3 stars on it's own that they did not hound me relentlessly with spam emails, texts, and phone calls like the other four companies I contacted for quotes. That will garner an immediate "no thanks" from me every time. Like the title says, understand the process of what you are doing, remain flexible and it will all shake out in the end.
