I used AmeriFreight to transport my car (family sedan) from Scottsdale, Arizona to Brooklyn, NY on January 23rd, 2020. Richard Jernigan (Customer Relations Manager) at AmeriFreight was my contact. From the time of submitting a quote for the services, till the car was delivered to the receiving party, Richard remained in the loop, returned my calls, was responsive to my calls and strived to provide good service. I appreciate his efforts, in spite of some difficult situations (explained below) that arose. AmeriFreight serves as an agency and hires a transport carrier company. AmeriFreight does not seem to have leverage over the transport carrier company to ensure delivery schedule to customer is kept as promised. The transport carrier picked up the car on January 23rd 2020 from Scottsdale. Agreed upon deliver date : January 29th, 2020. I paid $200 more (as an incentive to the carrier transport company) than the preliminary quote, so that the transport carrier can meet the agreed upon delivery schedule. However, delivery schedule of January 29th was not met; they missed 30th, 31st and dragged it to Feb 1st. This delay was not due to any weather or road conditions; it is purely due to schedule planning on the part of the transport carrier, over promising, and failing to understand how much trouble they put the customer through, due to their failed promised delivery date. The receiving party had to make changes in travel plans and needed to hire a rental car at additional expenses. Finally, by mutual agreement, the transport carrier delivered the car in good condition on Feb. 4th , 2020. On a positive note, the driver was communicative from the road about the delay and agreed to deliver the car on Feb. 4th when the receiving party returned to Brooklyn, NY. Summary of my experience & lessons learned. Con: I paid $200 more than the preliminary quote to transport the car. The receiving party spent additional money for a rental car, as our car was not delivered on January 29th as promised by the transport carrier. One can not trust the delivery schedule dates, even if it is spelt out. Pro: The Customer Relations Manager (Richard) and the Driver (carrier transport company) tried to provide good services, but didn’t meet the expectations & put us through some difficulties. I will consider using AmeriFreight (& Richard) for my future needs, with a caveat, I will be more cautious / skeptical about the promises.
