When I first called to ship my car, I spoke with an agent who gave me a quote and then scheduled a day and time the following month to call me back. I never received that phone call. I waited a few days thinking that they were busy and that I should hear from someone soon, and I never did.

Eventually I called back, and there didn't seem to be record of my initial phone call/quote. I was told by a new agent that this quote was too low. My new quote was ~$100 higher. I was okay with this.

Eventually during the bidding process, no one had bid on my car, and I received a call on a Saturday from another agent who told me that I would have to increase the bid by an additional ~$400 in order to have my car shipped. Because it was only 2 days before my scheduled pick-up date, I felt pushed into accepting this offer. I was backed into a corner and had to pay ~$500 more than my initial quote.

After that, there were significant discrepancies between what Amerifreight told me and what the carrier eventually told me. I was told by Amerifreight that I could pay with cash or cashier's check at delivery. I did not learn until the actual pick-up when the driver was at my home that I would have to pay in cash only at delivery. He told me that if I was going to pay with cashier's check, I would have to pay him in full on the spot at pick-up. Obviously, I was not prepared for this because I hadn't been told, and also it's ridiculous to ask for payment in full at pick-up. The driver also implied that I wouldn't be able to receive a receipt at delivery where I would pay him $1100 in cash. Eventually, the carrier was able to give me a receipt, but this was after I had to request it specifically.

I was also told by Amerifreight that most carriers allow up to 80-100 pounds in the car. When the driver came to pick up the car, he asked me to sign paper work that the car was completely empty. I had already packed the car with about 80 pounds of things and had already waited over 4 hours for the car to be picked up. My family and I rushed to empty the car on the spot.

Eventually, I received the car with minimal damage and loss. The license plate bolts, a phone charger and a tire gauge I had left in the car were gone- small annoyances that weren't worth making a big fuss over, but annoying to deal with all the same. I wish that the communication had been better during the entire process on Amerifreight's end and on my carrier's end. Everyone I spoke with was friendly, but they didn't give me the correct information.
