Horrible Story To Tell

Let me start out by saying that I have had the worst car transport experience of my life with All State. I really hate the fact that I have to type such a review for others to see, but I wanted to let people know how a car transport SHOULDN'T go. I have to admit that even though All-State Carriers wasn't 100% responsible for damage to my cars (they weren't the drivers) and they didn't take 16 days to drop my cars off (they, again, were not the drivers) but companies who are brokers or who sub-contract are ONLY AS GOOD AS THE COMPANIES THEY HIRE.

My cars got scheduled with APEX INC drivers to be picked up on the 29th of November early in the morning. My plane left on the 1st of December for Illinois at 5am so I had only a small window in which to work with. I called on the 29th and the driver that All-State hired said "Oh, we don't work on Sundays...so I don't know why they told you today" and ended the call with me. I was stunned to find out that All-State was closed Sunday so there I was, outside of my hotel room trying to leave messages with them asking what was happening. If you don't work on Sundays, why make a pick-up date for Sunday? So Monday rolled around and I had to call, as EVERY SINGLE TIME BEFORE (meaning I had to be the one that called the driver to find out what was going on) and find out what the deal was. He said it was going to be at 11:30 pm..a half hour prior to being 2 days late on picking the car up. I informed the driver, Peter, that it was unacceptable and I wanted the cars picked up immediately. He had someone come out at 9:00 pm with a pick-up truck and trailer to get my two vehicles. I paid for a transport, not some stranger with a Ford F250 to load my cars. Ridiculous.
I need the cars taken so I had no choice but to give them to his "friend" Alec. After being almost 6 days late on his delivery, he tried to tell me his sob story on what a pain driving this specific route was and how HE was tired. I tried not to be rude but stated that I was very upset with the way he handled the delivery and after I paid him the money, my emergency brake is broken. He told my wife AFTER he drove my car down the street from where he parked the car that, "I don't know how to drive manual". WHY DRIVE IT THEN??? My wife would have driven the car 2 blocks but he decided to take it into his own hands and now I am looking at a 400 dollar E-brake bill.
If it wasn't for Jennifer in customer service, this whole experience would have thrown me into rage-induced coma. She was very helpful and the only bright spot to the entire situation. I didn't sign any paper stating the cars were in good condition, yet they tell me there isn't much I can do. If someone calls me from All-State saying someone will reimburse me for the auto repair on my E-brake, I am sure my attitude will change on just that subject...but my car is damaged, it was driven by an unqualified driver, they were almost a week late delivering my vehicles and a day late, almost 2 picking them up...and my cars were unloaded from one truck and picked up by another before they got to the final destination. Again, companies that sub-contract or are brokers are only as good as their workers/sub-contractors. I wish things would have worked out better with All-State and I really wish someone could have been there at later hours than 6pm Chicago time and not working on Sundays. Great price but horrible end result. I hope they never use this Apex company again and will look to hire better drivers to deliver their customer's cars in the future. What a disaster.
