I received a quote between 830-840 dollars to transport from Sac to Houston. We agreed upon 840.00. The Transporting Co. picked up my truck on a Sat. and arrived in Houston on Thurs (right before Hurricane Ike. The Trans Co....All Transport was very professional and a pleasure to deal with. Advance Logistics (the Broker is another story.)Once my truck was on the road, they increased my fee to 991.00. According to Andy (I am pasting his email to me) these increased fees are due to:

YOU ARE BEING CHARGED ACCORDING TO THE SHIPPING ORDER, THE 8% FOR THE FULL COVERAGE INSURANCE AND ROAD TAX $ 67.00 AS PER QUOTE AND THE FUEL SURCHARGE OF $84.00 WHICH TOTALS TO 151.00.

THANK YOU
ANDY
I was told that these fees that are added after the $840.00 signed tarriff is illegial. They have a paragraph in their contract 2a which states that they can add additional fees. Currently, I am disclosing all of our correspondences, emails, contracts and my correspondences with the transporter to the US Dept of Transportation and from there it will be determined whether Advance Logistics was within their legal boundaries.
But in the end, they are still dishonest by omission. Furthermore, after I informed Andy that I was disputing the $151.00 out of the $200.00 deposit (I was still honoring our original 840.00 contract)

THE ADDITIONS EXCEPT FOR THE FUEL SURCHARGE WERE DISCUSSED WITH YOU AT THE TIME
THAT THE ORDER WAS BOOKED. wHEN YOU RECEIVED THE QUOTE BY EMAIL IT INDICATED
THAT THERE WOULD BE AN 8% CHARGE FOR THE FULL COVERAGE INSURANCE AND ROAD TAX
ADDED TO THE SALES PRICE, I GUESS THAT THIS WAS IGNORED AS WELL AS THE POSSIBLE
FUEL SURCHARGE. AS A RESULT OF YOUR CONVERSATION WITH THE GIRL IN THE OFFICE AND
HAD INDICATED THAT YOU HAD ALREADY DISPUTED THE DEPOSIT OF $200.00 WITH YOUR
CREDIT CARD COMPANY WE HAVE REVERSED THE @200.00 AND THE TOTAL NOW DUE AT
DELIVERY IS THE $991.00 AND SHOULD BE PAID TO THE DRIVER AT DELIVERY.
AGAIN I WOULD LIKE TO SAY THERE ARE NO DEALS WITH THE DRIVER HE WAS HIRED BY US
AND INSTRUCTED TO COLLECT THE FULL $991.00, HE WILL ALSO HAVE A COPY OF THE
CREDIT ISSUED TO YOU.

ANDY

In the end, the transporter and I agreed to a fee of $850.00 in which he was paid upon delivery. He did the right thing and felt that I was being screwed by Advance Logistics...primarily Andy. To this date, I have not received the $200.00 deposit. I am counting on my bank to dispute this. This company is SCANDALOUS!!! DO NOT USE THEM! I will post an update of the out come with the Dept of Transp.

Note to Andy:
Even if I don't receive my 200.00 deposit back, I guarantee you that I have costed you more than $200 worth of business plus the headache of dealing with me, my bank and now the US Govt. YOU ARE A DISHONEST JERK! CONSUMERS BEWARE!
