Ace Auto Freight gave me the most competitive initial quote at $600 for shipping a vehicle with no drivetrain. I signed a contract with them based upon these numbers and paid $200 up front and was expecting to pay another $400 cash on delivery. They then doubled their price to $1200 and asked for another $100 up front and $900 COD. The first shipping company drivers literally did not show up twice to pick up the vehicle, then on the third time said they were not told that the vehicle was non drivable and didn't have a winch to pull the car up onto the trailer. The second company (Union 5 Transport) showed up a day later but was an hour and a half late to the pick up location and loaded the vehicle onto their trailer. They then proceeded to load two more immobile vehicles behind mine and expected me to have a forklift or other means of lifting my car off the side of their trailer. They only informed me of this requirement (and an increase in price to $950 COD) the night before delivery. I had to call around and spend an extra $300 on a flatbed to tow my car off the FRONT END of the trailer (they decoupled their truck and the flatbed backed up to the front of the trailer, pulling it off the opposite end as normal). This was a lot more money, frustration, risk and work than I had anticipated to deal with. Everyone seemed pleasant to talk with but also completely and totally incompetent. Do yourself a favor and hire someone who gives a more realistic quote and seems to know what they're doing, because you'll spend more for less with Ace Auto Freight.
