AMKO Automovers AWFUL

Montway Auto Transport is simply the dispatcher for the various companies that transport your vehicle. I've used Montway twice now to ship my car, and they have always been helpful and prompt in their service.

Unfortunately, I cannot say the same about the company that actually shipped my car- AMKO Automovers. They were AWFUL. To begin, the man who came to pick up my car was 4 HOURS late, and he didn't deem my time important enough to even call me. After waiting 30 mins from the original time agreed, I called him. He had forgotten what time we had agreed upon, and said he would be about 30 mins more. An hour goes by, and he's still not there. I call again- and he's still another hour away. I had to keep calling him to make sure he was still coming, as he didn't call me ONCE or give me an honest ETA.

AMKO told me it would be 7-9 days before I received my car, so I made travel plans around that estimation. 4 days after the pickup, I receive a call from a driver to say that he was ready to drop off my car THAT NIGHT. While normally an early drop-off would be a good thing, this time it wasn't, as I was not even in the same state. I told them as much, asking if there was a way for them to hold my car somewhere. They said absolutely not, and that I would have to figure out what to do, otherwise they would move on and take my car with them. So basically, a situation that was their fault now became my responsibility- take it or leave it. The woman I spoke with on the phone (their "customer service") was even less helpful. She basically said I needed to figure out a way to have my car dropped off (from thousands of miles away), or I was SOL.

Ok fine- I called my aunt to see if she could meet the driver and accept my car. She could, so that was that. BUT THEN- AMKO said they would not drop off my car if my aunt could not pay the remaining balance on the shipment. I was NOT going to have her do that, so I asked what my options were. Basically, they gave me no other options until I pressed- finally she said I could deposit the money into their account and once they saw it, they would drop off the car. Obviously I was annoyed at this arrangement, as I would not get to see the car before I paid the rest of the money, but AMKO gave me no other choice if I wanted my car anytime soon.

Summary: AMKO drivers are disrespectful of your time (and the amount of money you are paying for the shipment), and their customer service is irresponsible and unwilling to work with you. I will NEVER use AMKO again.

Danielle, Thank you for the business and feedback. We strive to provide the best service possible with honesty and customer satisfaction as our top priorities. We apologize for the inconvenience you experienced while shipping your vehicle with us. We do care about our clients and their time and it is unacceptable that you had to wait so long. Our drivers usually give an estimated time and try their best to keep it. If not, they should definitely call to say otherwise. However, sometimes drivers are delayed because of other pickups and deliveries that they do not necessarily have time to contact the next customer right away. But please do know that the drivers can only give the best estimated time and it can always change. We always suggest that customer’s keep an open schedule for that day but still do what they need to and wait until they receive a call, usually half an hour before, to wait at home. Also, the delivery of your car was unusually fast but it does happen from time to time. It is written in our terms and conditions, on the back of the bill of lading, that the client should have a back up contact person just in case they will not be able to meet the driver. Also on the bill of lading, it is noted that payment must be available upon delivery. I believe the customer service representative you were speaking to might have been pushing you to find someone to accept delivery because if not, they would have had to leave your vehicle in storage and cost you more. However, I do apologize if the driver or customer service was being rude to you; we do not condone that kind of behavior in our company. We are constantly working on creating an open communication so that events like these do not occur. Thank you again for the feedback; we will use this information to improve our service in the future.
