Hauling the old Jeep

I bought this 1955 Willys 4 x 4 pickup through a Willys collectors website. We actually negotiated for a few months. I flew out to Calif. to check it out. The only sticking point became shipping as naturally that always affects the bottom-line price.
I screwed around with eBay's alleged shipping choice DAS (or so they would have you believe). I found this site and my seller had already gotten a quote from several other shippers including 1st Choice. I am glad he did. I checked out the reviews here and was impressed with the number of positive reviews.
I must say the entire thing was smooth.
There was an initial hiccough as Brandi tried to find a driver in California. Due to the high price of fuel, the drivers aren't taking many Calif. trips. She even offered to find another shipping agent so the delivery wouldn't be delayed any further.
Within the week, she found one. Wolf Creek Transport out of Colorado.
He picked the Jeep up on Wednesday in Central California and it was in Albuquerque early Saturday morning, just in time for our annual old car swap meet -- so I could show it off a little. I watched him gently unload the old thing and I was very impressed with the care he he had taken in tying it down and the care he took in backing it off.
Although I was leery at first of doing business with a broker instead of a self-contained company that owns its own trucks and employs its own drivers, I was completely - and let me emphasize completely - satisfied. Really good price (I had expected to pay over a grand), friendly keep-in-touch service and a great driver who took really good care of the big ol' red Willys.
All in all, the best of these experiences I've ever had.
I will use 1st Choice again, for sure.
