I have shipped 4 cars over the last 18 months due to moves that were military in nature. I have found that upon doing the math, transporting my vehicle is the most cost effective way to get it to my next duty station.
I have dealt with the full spectrum of service in shipping a mid-size passenger car...
1) the First Transporter submitted a low bid, and then took 8 weeks after my availability date, never could get up with him, and his office sounded like a sweatshop with people yelling in the background. (GRADE: C)
2) the second transporter submitted the lowest bid, but required a $200 deposit, then they proceeded to string me out as my availability date got closer, then passed, still with no follow-up, and I had to call them repeatedly(answering machine) and when I finally HAD to move my car out of storage...I ended up paying way more that the original bid.! (GRADE: D-)
3) the third transporter submitted the lowest bid, and did an OK job, but my car was moved by a fly-by-night hillbilly with 3 teeth on the back of essentially a flatbed at 2 am. (GRADE: C-)
4) this last tranport of my car, was with Kim Foster, she was the lowest bid, and wrote me back with e-mails when my availability date was within 3 weeks. She called me several times, to finalize the pickup times, She advised me on the best times as she could see the way the rates for transporting vehicles was shaping up, and she advised me on a good date to establish as my pickup date. She called me on THE DAY of my" first available", and gave me the option to go with a very reputable transporter that was in my area if I was "ready to go". I said "yes", and within 2 hours I had made contact with the transporter. She had coordinated with him, since the transporter was from her area, and my car was loaded with great care. Once the transporter departed, Kim called me back to ensure everything was to my satisfaction. Over the next 3 days, Kim called /e-mailed me on the progress of my Car, and supplied the number of the transporter,for backup. On the day of delivery, she contacted me 3 times to ensure everything was good on the delivery times. The vehicle was delivered flawlessly, and she called to confirm that I was happy with the service/experience. (GRADE: A+)
I would recommend Ms Foster to anyone wanting quality hands-on transportation for the vehicle.
This is my 4th "experience", Let me tell you there are very few like her.
