Reasonable quote and Linda was very helpful when booking transport
Car arrived on time but they could only narrow delivery down to a two day window. Shipping took 19 days and trucking across country was 7 days. Shipped from port (outer island) to door for just over $2000.
Unfortunately, my classic Mercedes roadster arrived with a new 2 cm dent on the trunk and a large, long scrape way down low on a plastic side panel below the door that I would not have even noticed but that the ground transport driver(America towing Auto Sales) had noted when he picked up the car from Matson (the ocean shipper) in LA. The car exterior was also very dirty which the driver apologized for and said had occurred during the last day of driving in the rain and had a few oil splotches on it (the car was on the bottom rack). It would have been an extra $1000 to have it trucked in a closed vehicle which I didn't think was worth the money.
The driver told us that Matson would not allow him to put a claim when he picked up the car in LA in since he was not the owner. Matson also refused to sign his vehicle condition form that noted the damage on pick-up (and that differed from my drop-off from from Hawaii). They have a policy that you must make a claim within 3 days of the car being collected. He called Julia at Transport Auto Services who told him to sign for the car and deliver it.
When I received the car, I called TAS and spoke with a fellow who transferred me to Linda who promised to send me the appropriate paperwork via email to file a claim. She said that the claim would have to go to Matson directly from me rather than from them. I did not receive that paperwork so I just went to the Matson website and filed a claim there.
I am a little concerned that the folks to whom I paid over $2000 are not taking much responsibility for the damage. I am getting an estimate for the repair this week and have sent the documenting photos to Matson.
I'm not sure if these reviews can be updated, but maybe they (TAS or Matson) will come through. It is always a crapshoot and a pain when you ship things - we shipped a truck several months ago with Horizon and they drove a nail through the tire but reimbursed us for the new tire fairly quickly (I mean the tire was flat on arrival and wouldn't hold air at the port of Seattle. Because of the type of tire, we actually had to drive to Portland to get it). Hope this review is helpful to some others.
