This is the second time I've shipped a car across country. But it's been years, and going through the process again wasn't going to be any easier. Thinking I could get out of the planning, if not the payment (!) I asked my daughter (recipient of the vehicle) to make arrangements. She gave up after a week of trying to get responses, straight info and quotes. Too many choices!!! I had no choice but to take over the job. I did some research, checked reviews, wrote emails and made calls for quotes. Bill (William Avrich), the straight-talking, no nonsense company president, was the only one who returned my call within hours, not just an email...and at a price that was equivalent to or beat others. More importantly, the whole process went incredibly smoothly...I supplied a first available day, not thinking they could make arrangements any quicker and the estimate was that pick-up would be in 2-4 days from that date...Bill got me a car carrier lined up while I was on the phone....and lucky me, I got a call a day earlier than expected, from the driver....he would be in my area that night! There was a rainstorm, and I was expecting inconvenience, having to meet the driver at some public location in the dark, because my street will not accomodate a car transporter (this is what I did before, I had to drive my car to a local public lot, and meet the driver there, and arrange for my husband to drive me home) - but again I was relieved and very happy to learn the driver would be picking my car up in person, working in tandem with a partner who drove him to my house...the transport truck was parked half an hour away. It was a bit inconvenient to have to stay up to 11 PM - but I was happy to have the driver save hours of "down time" - he could get on the road immediately. He was young, but seemed completely experienced. Again, they beat the estimated time for delivery to CA....the car was there by Saturday, and they delivered the car to my daughter that Monday....No problems at all. Car in perfect shape. Bottom line: It's hard to know what company to use in situations like this. Far as I can tell, it's a "jungle" out there, when it comes to auto transport: so I was expecting some difficult choices, and then some pretty 'hard selling" when it came to closing the deal. Bill did not disappoint in that regard ;-) - it's an inescapable part of the business he's in - but to his credit, he backed up what he said with performance! He delivers!
