I first contacted TACAT on 11/09/04 to ship my car from Baltimore, MD to Sacramento, CA. Based on past experience my first question to them was do you have you on trunks and the representative David Steele replied "Yes we do". Using that information I told them that I needed my car shipped by the 16th of November and I was assured that it would be arranged. David was to send me the contract that following day which of course never happened. I did not receive the contract will...wouldn't you guess it on the day that my car was to be picked up. When I recevied the contract I signed and faxed it back to the company to get the ball rolling. I then told by David that the car would be picked up on following week. IT NEVER HAPPENED.
I contacted the company and asked to speak with a customer service representative but unfortunately there were out...yes the entire customer service department was out. Later that week Andrea, a customer service rep, left me a message saying that they cuurrently did not have a carrier for my vehicle and due to the upcoming holiday namely Christmas it was going to be difficult to find a carrier. A quick flash back to the first question that I asked David "Do you have you own trunks", how they are only a broker for the carriers.
After listening to the message, I know that there was no telling when I was going to have my car shipped so I decided to cancel my service. I contact David on Nov 29, 2004 to cancel and he said a customer service rep would call. Three days later no phone call so I called them back. David informed me that they were still looking and I told him for a second time that I wanted to CANCEL my service with them. He told me that I would get a refund of my deposit and transfered my to customer service. I was told by Andrea that I would get my refund and that I needed to send a certified letter to them requesting that my service be terminated. I sent two letters to them and on January 18 was told that they received it.
I spoke with manager Nick Chase on several occasions about my refund. I was told that I signed a contract and the refund could not be given. My first thought was all of the representative that I spoke with said that I was be refunded no problem. And secondly THEY PROVIDED NO SERVICE...IF THERE JOB WAS TO PROVIDED A CARRIER TO SHIP MY VEHICLE AND THEY DID NOT DO THAT THAN WHY DO I OWN THEM MY DEPOSIT. A CUSTOMER PAYS FOR SERVICE AND SINCE THEY NEVER FOUND A TRUNK THAN NO SERVICE WAS PROVIDED. Later I was instructed Nick to file a dispute with my credit card company which I did.
My CC. credited my account for the $200.00 deposit but later TACAT sent them a letter stating that on the day I fax the contract 11/16/04 that found a carrier to ship my car on the 16th of February...which is a bold face lie. I didn't fax my contract to them until 3:44pm PT which is 6:44pm ET and they were closed. As I state before, they never found a carrier to ship my car.
Currently, I my case in still pending. I am working with my credit card company to weave through their web of lies to ensure that they don't get away with my deposit.
***THIS COMPANY IS A RIP OFF THEY HAVE CHANGED THEIR NUMBER 3 TIMES AND THEIR LOCATION TWICE...WHAT LEGITIMATE COMPANY DOES THIS. THEY ALSO PROVIDED FALSE INFORMATION TO MY CREDIT CARD COMPANY TO THAT THEY COULD KEEP THE DEPOSIT AND THEY ALSO MISREPRESENTED THEMSELVES WHEN THEY SAID THEY HAVE THEIR OWN TRUNKS......PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY***
