I came to transport review.com in order to find a good price to ship my car from Los Angeles to Texas. I decided Total Car Shipping from Miami.
The lady, Nilda, was extremely nice in the beginning. She told me it would take about 3 or 4 days in order to ship my car (picked up the 6th; therefor, should be here the 9th or 10th...wasn't delivered until the 16th at 9pm). I figured a rep from Total Car shipping would come to pick my car up and then deliver it at my door...this was the furthest from the truth. A man from Hi Desert Towing came to pick up my car (he was very rude). I called him 3-4 days after he picked it up. He informed me it was now with Todd with R&D towing in Dallas, Texas. I called Todd on the 9th and left a message (never called me back). I proceeded to call Nilda from TCS in Miami, no answer, so I left a message. She didn't call back, so I spoke with someone else from the company, she informed me, my car would arrive the 13th (a Saturday). The car doesn't show up on Saturday, so I call ALL THREE COMPANIES, and no one is able to answer my phone call because it's not business hours.
I waited until Monday (I'm still very calm by this point). I finally get a hold of Todd from R&D Towing. He tells me they are having problems and that my car is about 20 miles away if I wouldn't mind picking it up. I tell him that unfortunately I don't have a ride at the time, but if he promises to deliver it first thing Tuesday morning everything will be fine. He agrees.
I wait until about 11:30 am on Tuesday. I call, and he says "It's not looking good to drop off your car. You're going to have to pick it up." Mind you, I paid for DOOR TO DOOR shipping. I tell him this is impossible. I don't have an inspection sticker and where I live it is densely populated with police, and I don't want to get a ticket for it. Finally he agrees to have it delivered (I find out later it was not delivered by his company yet another company, a 4th company who is now in possession of my car). From 12pm-530pm I am in contact with both TCS and R&D and this other company (don't know the name) about every hour. Each time I talk to them they push the drop off time back an hour. Then it's 5:30, my car is not here, and so I decide to call all 3205823508 companies, but no one is picking up because it is past business hours. Nilda, who I finally get a hold of, said she would call me back but never did, and Todd has left the office...great I have no idea where my car is and no one to help me.
Cut to the point...I finally get my car at 9pm at night, and there is over $1500 missing from it (A TV, GPS, sunglasses and several items of clothing). I paid the 4th driver only because it was not his responsibility, and the poor guy was dealt a horrible situation, but I didn't cut a check to R&D or TCS. All of the sudden after 4 hours of me calling both R&D and TCS and both of them not picking up my calls, my phone is ringing from these companies who want to know why I didn't write a check to pay them (They must be absolutely kidding...is this a joke? Am I on a TV show???).
To make a very long story a little longer...our lawyers are now handling the details. I'd rather pay 5,000 dollars in lawyers fees than give them a penny of my money.
DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT USE TOTAL CAR SHIPPING OR R&D SHIPPING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
