I live in Toronto Canada and needed to have my 1964 Toyota FJ40 shipped (enclosed) from Prescott AZ. I looked at full service to my doorstep and also to nearby New York State and Micihigan, where I would then collect the vehicle and take it across the border myself. I obtained numerous quotes, sourcing only the top rated companies as well as one or two others I found on the internet. The quotes ranged from $1395.00 to $4800.00!!! The average price was around $1800.00... Needless to say, money was a big consideration and I went with Stateway Auto. My contact there was Susie E. In my case a transport was dispatched on three different occasions to collect the vehicle only to find the seller unavailable at the last minute!! The first two drivers were very easy to contact and both were polite and helpful. On the third occasion, the seller appeared to be unavailable again, but my Stateway contact, Susie, was able to contact the seller and negotiate a pickup at the last minute. She then made arrangements for the driver, to turn around and make a two hour journey back to Prescott to collect the vehicle! The driver, Mike, was great and picked up the vehicle despite the inconvenience. Mike was also very easy to contact (a very important part of the process) and I spoke with him several times over the course of the next few days as arrangements were made to meet him in Detroit. He was exceptionally accomodating and did what he could to make help me out. When we finally met, he not only unloaded the vehicle, but took care of it while we went to check into our hotel. Then when the vehicle would not start due to the cold, Mike volunteered to help us get it going. After towing him around the parking lot a couple of times he got the FJ going!! Only then did he leave for his next delivery. Throughout the process Susie kept me updated every step of the way through numerous phone calls and e-mails... On more than one occasion, Susie called me from her home after hours to keep me in the loop. My vehicle arrived in perfect condition as I had hoped, despite the long haul. Susie and Mike were simply awesome... I would highly recommend anyone in my position, looking to transport a vehicle from the U.S. into Canada to do the same and have Stateway deliver it to a destination in a nearby state and take it across the border yourself. Despite having no prior experience, I found the process to be relatively easy and I saved literally thousands of dollars in the process!!!
