This was my 2nd time shipping a car cross country. The first time was through a broker that dispatched a carrier who took nearly a month to ship a car that ended up damaged and filthy upon arrival to its destination.

Nervous about shipping a car again, I decided to do much more thorough homework on choosing a company and I chose Stateway Auto because of their good reviews and the fact that they say they have their own trucks. Therefore I wouldn't have to go through the whole middle man process.

I did everything online, placed my order and paid my deposit and got the confirmation email telling me it would take up to 7 days to assign my car to a truck. No problem. I made my first available date 8/26. Just my luck.... they assigned my car to the SAME carrier which damaged another car the first time I wanted to a ship a car. I called them up right away to have them switch me carriers and they told me no problem they can do that.

I was moving from PA to WA on 8/30 and my car was still not assigned to another carrier yet. It wasn't until 9/13 they were finally able to put my car on a truck. Thank goodness my car was left at my parents house otherwise I have no idea what I would have done. Susie was very nice and helped me out as much as she could to have that done. Even refunded me a portion of my deposit in good faith because of the long wait.

Apparently they only have 2 carriers that travel to the Seattle area and they were both completely booked. (I thought they have their own trucks?)

The carrier (Rapid Transit) arrived to WA early and without notifying me in advance so I wasn't available to get my car. Therefore I had to wait another day for them to come back. And I had to scramble high and low to find a store that sells Money Orders since no ATM will allow you to withdraw $1300 at once.

Car arrived in good shape. No damage. Not really dirty but a bit dusty as I expected since it IS open carrier.

Overall, Stateway Auto is a very honest company that does value customer satisfaction. I just happened to be unlucky and decide to ship my car at the exact same time they had trouble finding a truck to put it on. Would I use them again?... absolutely but ONLY if I am not in a rush.
