Picking a company to deliver a car when I couldn't be on both ends was scary to say the least. After reading reviews on this site, I made my best guess and picked First Call Auto Haul. They had excellent reviews, and one of the lower prices. They were also local to the pick up point of the car, so I thought it would work out well.

After two days of calling with no returned calls, I decided that maybe they were not such a good choice and made my second guess for Specialty Mobile Systems. They also had great reviews from people who had used them.

Specialty Mobile Systems price was slightly higher than the other place I called (about $100 according to an online quote), but they answered the phone every time I called, they called me when they said they would, they arranged transport in a very reasonable time.

I am writing this review a couple weeks after the delivery and didn't keep exact records of all of it so I am guessing a little at dates.

My first phone call was on a Monday, Specialty Mobile Systems gave me the price and conditions and told me 1 to 10 days for pick up and another 5 to 7 days for delivery after that. I said go ahead and gave them a credit card number for the deposit along with a phone number and address for the pick up point. I got a call back on Wednesday (I think) saying the car could be picked up on Thursday and delivered on the following Tuesday. The driver called on Sunday to say he would be able to drop it off on Monday afternoon (a day earlier than estimated) which was very impressive considering the late April snowstorm that had moved through. Even if it didn't close roads, snow very much slows down traffic. I was expecting a day or two late, not a day early!

The car arrived in good condition. It was slightly dirty, but much less than it would have been if I had driven it through the snow, and who knows, it may have left in that condition too.

The only minor problem was that the antenna was broken. I did not ask the company to do anything about it because they were clear that antennas should be removed and it was not. It would be a very easy think to break, and being small and painted black, it could be hard to watch for while moving cars around. I am not saying this to complain about the transport, but as a heads up to others, if you can remove antennas or other things hanging off the car (as transport companies tell you to do) then you really should. They are very easy to damage.

I would not hesitate to use Specialty Mobile Systems again. In fact, if I were to ever need another car moved, I would only use another company if they were for some reason unable to do the delivery for me.
