Specialty Mobile Systems handle transportation of my 1925 Packard from my brother's house in Vermont to my house in Wisconsin in an enclosed truck. There were a few glitches. Due to a miscommunication, the first truck that arrived was too short to accomodate the 80" tall Packard. The trucker failed to notify SMS that he had not picked up the car. When I called SMS several days later, they were more upset than I was about this. The second trucker had a very limited window of time in which they could pick up the car and it didn't fit my brother's schedule, so it looked like we would have to find a third trucker. But SMS set up a three-way conference call between the trucker, my brother (who had the car), and the trucker and was able to facilitate resolution of the scheduling problem. The car arrived in perfect condition. The problem with the first trucker delayed delivery by about a week. Although the transaction didn't go perfectly, SMS was very helpful and committed to working through the issues and being sure I was satisfied. I believe that how well a company handles problems is as important as how well they avoid them. The folks at SMS were a pleasure to work with and I would recommend them to anyone.
