I made arrangements to ship my son's car from Illinois to California at the end of August 2007 through Dee at Specialty Mobile Systems. I chose the company after a great deal of research on the internet and through the Better Business Bureau and after reading multiple reviews of their service. I had many conversations with and many quotes from different companies, but Dee was the only one who was pleasant and helpful without being pushy, promising something she couldn't deliver. The price was in the middle of all the quotes I received. Specialty Mobile is a brokerfor the type of move I was doing, so they arranged with Amercian Auto Transport for the actual move itself. I heard from them within a day of making initial arrangements, and the car was picked up on the first day that it was available. I was given the driver's cell phone and was able to keep in touch with him throughout the process so it was possible to gauge timing very accurately. I found the driver, Paul, to be very responsive and responsible. Unfortunately for him, however, on the morning he was to be delivering our car, a pick-up truck with 2 drunk drivers hit the car carrier. The driver was unhurt and there was no damage to any of the cars on the truck, but there was a subsequent delay of a day because of time spent making a police report and having the truck checked. We were kept fully informed about all of this as it happened by Amercian Auto Transport. This delay did not matter to us.
I would definitely use Specialty Mobile Systems and/or American Auto Transport again. The broker is only as good as the driver who provides the actual service. In this case, we were very impressed with every aspect of the move.
