I had my car shipped back in June 23rd. This was my first time using an auto transport, felt anxiety the whole time. After some extensive research, South Beach Transport checked out OK.
Alan was my main point of contact, nice guy, casual tone, but seemed new. Joe, his manager, had all the answers, made me feel at ease. I called them several times with no problems, and the car would arrive 7-10 days, and it would cost $850 total. $150 deposit, and $700 in money order.
Now they are the brokers, NOT the shippers. Marlin Transportation was the shipping company, and they pissed me off. The dispatcher was a woman name Leidy(?), she was incredibly rude, and misunderstood my request.
The car was picked up on Monday 6/23, and they called me on Thursday saying that my car would be arriving by Saturday 6/28. She asked when is the best time to drop off the car. I told her that I would be working in the evening and that Saturday morning would be best. We agreed. Then on Friday evening while I was at work, she called me saying that the driver is near my place and that if I wasn't there at 10pm to pick up my car, I'd get charged $150 more to get my car since they would have to go back to Miami. WTF? Leidy ignored my request and threatened to charge me extra. Oh, and oil from another car dripped all over the roof of my car.
As glad as I was to get my car early, she did not warn me at all that they were in the area. Terrible communication. For the price, South Beach Transport is good, but Marlin Transportation was terrible.
