Great Experience with Ship-a-car Direct, Poor Communication/Miscommunication with Carrier about Delivery

I had an excellent experience in working with Bruce at Ship-A-Car Direct. He was very responsive to emails (which was important to me) and answered my questions clearly without making me feel rushed on the phone as well. I placed my order for the shipment in the late afternoon and by the next morning, we had our bid accepted by a carrier and were booked for transport for the following day. I was thrilled with how quickly the booking took place.

I reached out to the contracted carrier (Carter's Hauling Services) and was told that the vehicle would be picked up the following morning around mid-morning. I was told that it was a same day transport as the distance was only 5 hours and would arrive in the late afternoon/evening. I was told they would call me about an hour before arrival. The vehicle was picked up from the car dealership where it was originating from with no issues on the scheduled date around 11:30 am. The dealership reported that the carrier was professional and they had no issues. However, at 6:00 pm on the day of pick-up/scheduled delivery when I hadn't heard anything from the driver, I called the carrier. When I called, I was told that my vehicle was never scheduled to arrive that same day, that it would be arriving the next morning. When I told them that I had asked that question specifically when I called them the day prior to pick-up, they apologized for the miscommunication, but said there was nothing that could be done and the car would arrive the next morning. I was pretty frustrated by that as I had made arrangements for someone to assist me with meeting the driver for delivery and now those plans were all thrown off completely, as well as my vehicle was now spending an overnight with the carrier that they hadn't disclose when I spoke with them before pick-up. They gave me a delivery window of between 9:00-10:00 am the following morning.

The vehicle actually arrived around 10:30 am the following morning. The car arrived in perfect condition and our interaction with the carrier was perfectly fine. He had called about 30 minutes before arriving. We were overall pleased with our experience, but were disappointed that what the carrier told me originally on the phone regarding the delivery was later changed and we weren't notified by them about it. If we had known originally that they would be delivering it the next morning, that would have been fine. It was just frustrating to experience the schedule change without being proactively notified by the carrier.

I am rating 4 stars, not because of any poor interaction with Ship-A-Car Direct but because of the lack of communication/miscommunication from the carrier. This is a carrier they use on a regular basis and I was disappointed with that aspect of the transaction.
