We were specifically looking for a company that could offer a 48 hour pickup window for our Yukon XL. We were moving our family with 4 young children across the country. Numerous companies contacted me, Chris assured me they should be able to work with that. When the 1st day came, I had not heard from a carrier, so I contacted Chris at Safe-Direct. He said he "was just about to contact me". He then proceeded to tell me they could not get a carrier, but maybe if I raised my price. I told him he could go higher. In the end, he told me they couldn't do it, and referred me to 2 other companies. At this point, our family is out of our home, staying with relatives, on a weekend, waiting for a truck that would never show up. My husband ended up cancelling his flight, losing the cost of that ticket, and driving the car 24+ hours to our destination.
I am a reasonable, well educated person. Chris claims they never promised they could do it. However, I spoke to him over the phone and the concerns he raised on the day of pickup were concerns he should have EMPHASIZED to me on in our inital discussions. He told me later on that this was an extremely difficult job to fill. If so, then why did they take it? If it was going to cost more to get it done, why not tell us up front rather than not deliver? I thoroughly explained our family's dilemna and asked if they could help us. Why establish an order? He said he could, when in the end, we were left with no carrier. The message to all of these car carrier companies is this: do not take an order from someone that is obviously depending on you if you have ANY reservations that you can fulfill it.
