Transport Drama

The job was to transport a car from Houston, Texas to Southern California.

David with Safe-Direct Car Shipping was excellent. He was very knowledgeable and responded to emails and calls promptly.

However, the truck drivers hired by No-Doubt Auto Transport to ship the car acted strangely. It was a two-man team, but one guy did all the work and kept answering phone calls while the other guy sat under the oak tree in my front yard. Instead of taking 15 minutes to inspect my car, sign the paperwork and load the car onto the trailer, it took about 40 minutes in 95 degree Texas heat to get on their way. No teamwork at all...but I suspect that was the way the busy guy wanted it to be (the oak tree guy was probably just in the way).
They left on Friday with the intention of being in Los Angeles Monday evening (two men alternating shifts). However, my wife got a call that they were hung up in Pheonix because the truck had a kicked-in window and a slashed tire that was difficult to replace. My wife told me one of the drivers was sent back to California on a bus due to behavioral issues (I doubt I can truly verify that, though). Anyway, the car made it to the city of delivery in 6 days.
Now for more strange...The driver called my father and told him that the trailer was too big for delivery to his house and asked for him to walk to the truck about a half-mile away. After deliberation, the driver apparently took one of the other cars off of the trailer, drove to my father's house, picked him up and drove him back to the truck to get the car. The thing is...the streets in the suburb of Southern California where my parents live are EXTRA WIDE. You could drive two 18-wheelers side by side down the street easily. (The streets in my Texas neighborhood are very skinny. I was impressed they could drive up to my house in the cul-de-sac.) Its just that I think I would be upset if the drivers were using my car to shuttle strangers around...unless it was an emergency, of course).

Bottom line: the car got to its destination from Texas to Southern California unscathed and within the timeframe promised. However, there was some strange drama in-between.

We agree that the drivers' behavior sounds strange and will address it with the carrier directly.
