Just had my van (2007 Honda Odyssey) delivered yesterday using Send It Car Shippers (SICS). I was a bit apprehensive, having read a couple of the negative reviews, but everything worked out great. Our van had broken down in Ohio and was towed (thank you AAA) to an auto body shop. Given the amount of work that we were being quoted, we decided it would be better to have the van shipped back to our mechanic here in Oak Park, Illinois. I researched a number of different carriers, and requested quotes. The auto body shop was willing to deliver the van (about 270 miles) for just over $800 (three dollars per mile for a relatively short-haul trip). The quotes from a number of traditional auto shippers ranged from $525 to $795. The initial quote from Send It Car Shippers was $390. The cheaper price made me a bit cautious, but I reached out to them on Wednesday to check it out. I spoke with Lily, and she let me know that she thought that she could have a driver pick it up two days later (on Friday). She called me back a few hours later and let me know that she had found a driver, but that his price would make the overall cost $35 higher (for a total of $425). That still sounded reasonable to me, especially since the car was in a relatively underpopulated area of Ohio and I was paying a daily rate for car storage at that point. In turn, I decided to go with SICS. I read and signed the car shipping agreement, and paid the $100 deposit. To be honest, I would have preferred to not pay a deposit and just pay everything on delivery, but both the price differential vs. the regular shipping companies (as compared to the brokers), and the relatively quick pickup made it worth it to me to pay the $100 and "take my chances" that it would all work out. Lilly followed up with me later that afternoon and let me know that the original driver was "having problems with his truck" (yes, this sounds like a line, and who knows if there ever really was an initial driver who had committed to the $425 total price). Anyway, she asked me if I would rather wait for a pickup early the following week or if I would rather have her pursue another truck for a pickup still on Friday. Since I was paying for storage ($20/day), I recommended that we find another driver. She did, and she got back to me the next morning and let me know that she had secured a driver who would pick the car up on Friday for the same price as preciously quoted. The pickup and delivery (on Saturday) went off without any problems, and at the price agreed upon (saving me at least $100 on the delivery, and with a very quick turnaround for the area where the car was being picked up). Lily was very good in lining up the delivery, and she was extremely responsive in communicating with me throughout this entire process, and I would absolutely use her and Send It Car Shippers again.
