Under false pretenses

On about 11/20/10 I requested a quote to ship my vehicle from NM to NJ on or about 12/26/10. I got several calls and emails from many places and RCAT (Red Carpet Auto Transport) was one of them. Denise Flores reached out to me pretty quick after I submitted my quote request. I called her back and out of the places, RCAT was the best at the time, as far as price and reviews.

So on 11/29/10 I placed the order with Denise. She did advise that it can take 1-7 business days for a carrier to respond to my request. I even received emails with price confirmations which started at $944 then went up $10 as we got closer which was fine. I knew that because of the holiday and possible weather issues that my car might not be picked up on 12/26 as expected, which was fine. I had to call them myself on 01/03/11 to find out that my car was not picked up, nor did they even have a carrier assigned yet. I spoke with Tony on this day and found out that Denise went away for 2 weeks prior. So it seemed that my order had "slipped through the cracks". The issue is that I had to actually call to find out my order wasn't even shipped, meanwhile I expected my car around the first week of January. RCAT definitely dropped the ball and this was poor customer service on their part. Had I known that this was going to be an issue I would've planned differently. They used the excuse that the city I originally wanted was not a major city and that carriers might not travel through there so it'd be harder to pick up from. Then why does RCAT advertise they can do door-to-door? I was completely under false pretenses here. Also, RCAT kept using the excuse that NM was a hard state to get in and out of, which sounded preposterous to me. If that is the case, then RCAT needs to change their advertising on their website. "We can ship to and from anywhere in the country as long as it is major cities, also except NM"

The reason I say this, is because on 01/10/11 I placed an order with All Pro Auto Transport and then 2 days later a carrier got assigned. Also the price was over $200 less with APAT vs. RCAT. I just received my car today from APAT. They did not give me any excuses about getting in and out of NM, they were prompt and the customer service was excellent. I don't doubt that RCAT has good reviews, other folks that are happy with their service, they seem to be a reputable company. However my experience with them was poor, their customer service/knowledge was lacking, and could've went better in my eyes. Even when I emailed Denise to cancel my order, I received no confirmation, response whatsoever. It's almost as if RCAT was happy that I was out of their hair.

I wouldn't be surprised should RCAT respond saying they have no control over the carriers, weather, whatever excuse is appropriate. Bottom line is that the customer service was not up to par in my case, even their manager (Tony) agrees that the ball was dropped and this could've went better. Based on my experience I would not recommend RCAT to anyone.

Mr. Delgado, It is unfortunate that you did not have a pleasant experience with our company. Your pick up city was extremely tough and if patient enough, or if timing works out, a truck would get to you, but you were looking for it to get picked up right away. I suggested moving the pick up to Albuquerque and you agreed. I changed it to Albuquerque and we got a driver immediately. We then told you about the pick up date and you said you could not accomodate that date, so we left it for the original pick up city. Such is life in the auto transport world. We have access to the same trucks that the broker you used have access to....and we dont make a dollar until your vehicle is picked up, so it's definitely in our best interests to get it picked up. I'm glad you got your car moved and apologize for your experience. We work extremely hard to make all of our customers happy, but in reality, there are going to be some cases where that doesnt happen. Best of luck to you.
