I had a fairly tight timeframe (needed pickup around Christmas day when everyone should be home with their families and delivery no sooner than Dec 30) and also needed an enclosed carrier provided by a trucking firm that was reliable and you didn't have to hunt down every day (previous experience made me a bit wary). I spoke to a number of brokers and got a wide range of bids. Of all the brokers I spoke to, Gilbert at Philam was the most direct and the only one I felt might actually care about the owner of the car being transported. Their pricing was not the lowest (I don't want a low bid on shipping something I care about) nor were they at the high end - just very competitive. The trucking firm was based in Chicago area where my car was and research got me feeling good about their trucks and drivers. From the time I said go, to the time Gilbert found a carrier was about 4 days (remember this is Christmas week pickup). When the truck arrived to pick my my car, it was a really well build enclosed carrier. My car was the first to be put on the truck heading to CA and the driver was outstanding. Great communicator and clearly cared about doing a quality service for the owners. I was flying to CA and the car was delivered right after New Years. All in all, Philam was great and so was APA 73.
