Communication issues between broker and driver

Easy to deal with and gave a competitive price up front. Pick up and delivery was prompt. However, substantial issues on communication between the broker we dealt with and the dispatcher and driver. I told the broker several days in advance that i would be out of town over a weekend. I received a call form the driver when he was only 70 miles away wanting to deliver in 1-2 hours. I was a 7 hour drive away from home. Explained to driver and the dispatcher it was not my fault the broker failed to relay that to them, but they begged me to accommodate, so I hopped in my truck and drove 7 hours back home a day early, only to receive a second call from the driver about 1/2 way there saying he could not meet me that day anyway because he had maxed out the number of hours he could drive that day.

Hi Guy, We just finished speaking on the phone. You and I did talk and we were aware of your schedule. We made it clear to the driver that you were unavailable and unfortunately he took it upon himself to try and deliver when you were clearly out of town. If a driver or carrier attempts to do something that he clearly has been instructed not to do, we are here to make sure your experience is a positive one every step of the way. In the future, please call anytime, we are available 24 x 7 to handle any issues that can arise. I have processed a partial refund to offset the inconvenience you experienced.
