Passport Transport

I just recently shipped a 2017 Lexus from Maryland to Texas, using Passport Transport. I solicited bids from four top-tier companies - Passport Transport, Intercity Lines, Reliable Carriers, and McCollister's Auto Transport. All four of these companies are high-end, and well-regarded transport companies.
Passport Transport was, for a time, bought and owned by FedEx as their "Custom Critical" division, before being spat back out some years ago into an independent company again.
The bids I got from the Annapolis area to Houston area ranged with all four companies from the $1495-1,600 range. Passport's bid came in around $1,550 and was the second cheapest. Pickup was about 10 days from when I activated the contract. I was able to get a couple of instant bids from two of the companies via their web sites, and two of them followed up with e-mailed bids within a few hours of me requesting them. All four companies were very responsive, with one of them even texting and calling me that their bid was on the way.
Transport time was 10 days from pickup to delivery - this took a bit longer than normal because the truck driver had a problem with the trailer's internal hydraulic lift system (before he picked up the Lexus, which didn't affect the loading of my car), and he had to drive from Maryland & Virginia to the trailer's manufacturer in Michigan to have the problem remedied. Then he came south to Texas, where he delivered a bunch of cars to the Dallas area for auctions happening this month.
Payment can be made up front via credit card, or at time of delivery to the driver via cashier's check or cash or credit card. I chose to do the payment up front. The driver was very definitely a "car guy" and we had a great conversation on both ends of the transaction (loading and unloading). The car was covered inside the trailer, and it had a paper floor mat and plastic seat-cover on the inside to avoid soiling, etc. It was delivered totally as it was received. The driver did a very careful inspection at loading time, as well as at delivery.
Can't say good enough things about the experience. I'll never use a "cheap" or budget, and non-enclosed, car transport service again. For shits & giggles, I did a bid estimate/comparison before engaging the four companies for their bids, and it was around $300-500 more for the enclosed, top-tier firms over the rough estimates I got from shipping sites. Well worth the extra money for professional care and having a "car guy" driver who gave a shit.
