My dealings with the people at NWAT were favorable, but I did have some issues. I needed my car transported from New York to Florida, so I called them to arrange it. They were very courteous and helpful; I needed the car picked up a certain day, and they said it was no problem. When I hadn't received any confirmation by the late in the day before pickup, I called them to inquire. It was then I was told that New World Transport wasn't moving the car; they subcontracted it out to other transporters, and they were waiting for conformation from them, and it may or may not be the day I needed. They were kind of off loading the blame on the trucking company they were using. After a few more calls back and forth, they finally confirmed that thay had a truck coming the day I needed. The truck didn't come, and I called NWAT at 7:00 that evening. The person who answered said he would call me back in a few minutes, as he was the only one there. He never called back. I called the truck driver, whose phone number was on the invoice. It turns out he as in West Hampton, NY (instead of West Hempstead, NY - about 75 miles away. The invoice had the correct address and zip code.) The driver, who spoke broken english, said he would pick up the car the next day. Next day, he called to say he couldn't pick up the car at the destination provided, because his rig was too large, and the car had to be brought to him, a few miles away.
When he delivered the car a few days later, he again called the receivers number, stating that the rig was too big to deliver the car to the address provided, and he would call when he was near. The receiver happened to walk around the corner to a local convenience store shortly thereafter, and happened to see a truck in the parking lot with her car on it. That's where she received it.
The previous time I used NWAT, there were no issues, either in pickup/dropoff times and location, so the quality of service seems related to whatever trucking company they happen to use at any given moment, which most certainly leads to inconsistant service. My issue with New World Auto Transit is that they present themselves in their website as the people who would be moving my car, but they are just the middle men. Which is fine, and maybe thats how the car transport industry works. I would just prefer to know before hand, and deal directly with the people who will be doing the transport.
