On 01/10/2011, I had placed a shipping order with Progressive Auto Relocation to ship my 1992 Acura Integra that I had purchased from Illinois. The vehicle was picked up by Nationwide Transit and delivered on 01/18/2011. The driver’s name that delivered my vehicle is Jersey. Jersey had arrived in California on 01/18/2011. He had called me 30 minutes prior and we had met at the intersection of Skyline blvd and Sneath Lane in San Bruno. When I arrived, I had noticed that my vehicle was on the top deck of his truck. There was 1 other vehicle that Jersey had to drive off his truck before he could get to my vehicle. I noticed that my vehicle was chain down in the front and rear end. I had asked Jersey “How come my car was not strapped down using nylon straps instead of chains?” I had previously called Jersey to ask him about how he secures vehicles on his truck before he had left Illinois. I had never purchase or ship a vehicle from out of state before. I was reading some feedbacks from other people that had posted comments about their experiences when it comes to shipping a vehicle. One feedback that I had read caught my attention because that person has had a horrible experience. They said that the driver had put chains on their suspension components and had cause lots of damages. When I had called Jersey and ask him how he secures the vehicles, he told me that he does not use chains, but rather heavy duty nylon straps. He said this way does not cause any damage to the vehicles and told me not to worry about my car and that my car is in good hands. When I saw my car on the top of Jersey’s truck, I had noticed that he had used chains. I had asked him about what he had told me on the phone about using heavy duty nylon straps instead of chains and he said that it’s ok to use chains as long as he can hook it onto the frame of the car. On the front end of my vehicle, Jersey had put the chain hooks on the tow hooks that are bolted to the frame. However, on the rear end, he had put the chain hooks on the rear trailing arms of the car, which is part of the suspension and not the frame. My car was chain down so tight that there were no room in between the front fenders or rear quarter panels and the top of the tires. When Jersey release the tension off the chains, my car gradually came back up and there were room in between the front fenders and rear quarter panels and the top of the tires. Jersey had removed the chain hooks off the front tow hooks and when he was removing the chains off the rear, I noticed that the chain hooks was on the rear trailing arms of the car. By placing the chain hooks on the rear trailing arms and applying excessive tension on the chains to hold the car down, it resulted in my rear trailing arms being bent now. This damage cannot be seen on the outside of the car. It can only be seen when the car is raise up and the rear wheels removed off the car. I found out about this hidden damage when I had taken my car to Firestone for an alignment and was told that the rear cannot be adjusted anymore to bring the car back to within factory specs due to the rear trailing arms being bent. Jersey’s negligent and decision to chain down my car with excessive tension has an end result of damages to my suspension components. Why did Jersey use chains instead of heavy duty straps like what he told me on the phone prior to him leaving Illinois? This is the first time that I had shipped a vehicle with your company and will possibly be my last. I was told that my car is in good hands and will be deliver with no damages. Now, I have a car that cannot be align properly due to damage suspension components. Lawsuit had been filed. Judgement enter against Nationwide Transit. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. THEIR CARGO INSURANCE DEDUCTIBLE IS $2500. THAT MEANS YOUR CAR HAS TO FALL OFF THEIR TRUCK IN ORDER FOR THEIR INSURANCE TO EVEN LOOK AT THE CLAIM. ANY DAMAGES UNDER $2500, THE OWNER, JOE, IS RESPONSIBLE FOR AND HE WILL DENY ALL CLAIMS. STAY AWAY FROM NATIONWIDE TRANSIT, INC.!!!
