Car engine failed on a trip from Hendersonville, TN, to western NC. Problem was crankshaft breakage, though it was operating (with loud noises and vibration) when I left it in Cleveland, TN.
Mercury contacted me promptly and was interested in my business. They immediately got in touch with a transporter, but unfortunately I could not coordinate with them to make the pickup. (Vehicle was locked with alarm set, so I needed to be there, 180 miles away, to open and defeat the alarm.) In further conversations, Ms. Jerome determined that it would be much more convenient to find a company which could make the pickup and avoid my driving 360 miles round-trip to simply unlock the door! Also, there was some possibility that the vehicle engine could fail as it was being driven onto a conventional transporter. That would add considerably to the problems and expense.
So Ms Jerome got creative; she located Jenkins Motors, based a few miles from my home, where the vehicle was to be delivered. They said that they could make the pickup regardless of the locked and alarmed state, using their rollback wrecker and its BIG winch...treating it like a locked repo job, I suppose... And their rollback was on its way from Atlanta: a small route deviation off their planned return to TN. They did request an additional $25 to the original Mercury quote, which I was OK with, as it kept me from making the trip, while treating the vehicle as inoperable, which it could have become at any time during the load/unload process. Jenkins made the pickup one evening and, rather than deliver it in the dark, brought it to my house the next morning. No problems with the drop-off.
I would definitely use Mercury and Jenkins again if, perish the thought, I had to go through this again.
