This was my first time shipping my car and it was a long way- cross country from NJ to CA. I looked up a bunch of reviews and finally settled on Magic Carpet because they were the top rated one on this website. There were cheaper ones I found, but I have read some horror stories about scams and irresponsible companies out there so I felt better spending a little bit more on a 5 star one with so many reviews. I talked with Kathy and she explained how things worked easily to me. All these companies are a bit of a middle man, connecting you with a driver that operates independently (most of the time. Some companies have their own trucks too) The customer service was prompt and transparent for me which was nice.
Overall, Magic Carpet is a good service for what they do. You will spend more going through any of these companies as opposed to going directly through a driver, but I guess doing it affords you a middle man that takes care of the communication between the parties which can be helpful if you've never done this before.
