This was my first experience arranging transportation of a vehicle and it could not have gone better. We needed to ship our son's 1979 Ford F-150 from here in ID to MI. I searched through this review site for the best rated companies and found one that sounded vaguely familiar, GT Auto Transport based in Nampa, ID. After reading the good reviews I emailed for a quote. While I was still at the computer, Amy with GT called. I was floored at the speed of response and the price. Earlier in the summer I had searched, but was not impressed by the responses to a general call for quotes submitted by a website. Some of the quotes used poor grammar and were not very professional in appearance. Others, in response to questions, would skirt the issue and be evasive.

Amy was friendly and took the time to explain about the transport process. She gave a quote of $1085 that was right in line with the earlier quotes which ranged from $900 to $1175. There was no hurry on pickup and delivery, just so long as it was before the snow fell. It must have been only an hour before she called and wanted to know if that same day was okay for a pickup. Seems she had found a closed carrier (Rapture Transport, out of New Hampshire) up north that had a space left and was heading back east. Within a short time we were contacted by the dispatcher for Rapture who updated us with the fact that, Dave, the driver, was going to have to stop for a rest because he was at his 36hrs max allowed. We were so happy to have the truck go by closed carrier (which normally costs a lot more) and that it was all coming together so quickly that we were not the least bit upset. In fact, it was reassuring to us that the driver was such as stickler for following the rules. When entrusting someone with anything of value, whether monetary or sentimental, who better than a 'by the book' kind of guy.

My husband volunteered to drive the truck 40 minutes north the next morning, combining a business trip with meeting up with the carrier. It saved Dave some time and miles and it worked out perfectly. The truck was loaded into a clean, well-maintained enclosed carrier by a driver who was professional and pleasant. What more can you ask for? How about a perfect delivery?

The truck was loaded on a Tuesday around noon. My son received a phone call from Dave on Thursday letting him know he was in Chicago and that he would deliver it Friday. I got a voicemail on my cell phone Friday afternoon from a very ecstatic 24 year old telling me that "whoo hoo, it started up first try!". I honestly couldn't believe he was referring to the truck since I had my doubts it would arrive before the weekend. When I called him back he was still elated over having his truck. He too was impressed by the care given to the transporting and the professionalism of the driver.

I hadn't realized the complexities of auto transport, what with brokers and carriers etc. GT Auto Transport performed their duty as broker flawlessly, choosing a reputable and reliable carrier and setting us up with them. Once that was done we were basically in the hands of the carrier, Rapture Transport, who took extremely good care of us first through contact with a personable dispatcher and then through their experienced driver. From the first email to the final payment on delivery we always had readily available contact numbers and whenever a question arose someone was reachable without delay. I don't think it can get any better than that!
