How many companies on this site would give up some of their OWN money to move your car and NOT tell you? This story sounds too good to be true, but I invite you to contact me if you have any doubts. I have received NO compensation for this review. (which is why it is a month late to be entered)
I originally schedule my transport with All-Pro Auto Transport, aka Direct Express Auto Transport because they had a lot of 5 star ratings, were very polite & courteous on the phone, and offered a very low quote $850 on the phone, and an even lower price on their web site, $750. My toyota tacoma 2WD, no lift or anything unusual, was made available on December 30. I was told about a typical 7-10 day pickup window and other details typical of the other 15+ companies I spoke with (no kidding). A week goes by and nothing, so I call and am told everything is fine, just wait. Then, BLAM, the biggest snow/ice storm in 20yrs hits Atlanta. I figured nothing would move for at least a week, and I was right. But, I received no call or email, so I called and was told they would refund me $50 of my deposit to them to add to the carrier's bid. I was impressed they were willing to give up some profit for my order, so I sat tight. Another 5 days goes by and nothing. Another call, and another $25 refunded to add to the carrier's bid. ANOTHER week and nothing. It was suggested to meet the driver 40miles from my destination to make it more tempting for them, and I agreed. Every time I call, I got another very kind young lady telling me that the bid price looks fine and I should just be patient. I even added some of my own money to increase the carrier's bid (to a total price of $850, the original price I was quoted on the phone).
After SIX WEEKS of waiting, I could not wait any longer, I called Jr at Door to Door who had been very prompt with prior emails and even called a few times. He spoke fast, which had me a little concerned that he was a fast-talking sales person, but now I was desperate. His original quote was a bit above All-Pro/Direct Express, but when I told him my story, he came down to $895 to be competitive. He also was direct with me, pointing out that he saw my order listed with Direct Express (there must be some big broker/carrier bulletin board somewhere). I tolld him that I was cancelling my order with AP/DE and he said he would make some calls directly with some carriers/drivers to see if he could hook me up quickly. It took a week, but I was pleased to be notified that my truck was picked up in Atlanta. A week later, my Tacoma was delivered to my door, as promised, with advanced notice, no damage. I paid the driver the amount I was told to, but when I checked my credit card statement, I noted that Door to Door charged me $50 less I was expecting. I called Jr who told me that his company added $50 of their OWN money to the carrier's bid to help move my order along, WITHOUT EVEN TELLING ME!
As you can understand, I wholeheartedly recommend Door to Door. I am not a company; not a repeat customer, just a single client who needed my car moved as part of a job transfer. You better be careful as there are a number of companies with this name, possibly trying to take advantage of the real company's reputation. Be sure to ask for JR.
