My experience with Domestic Auto Transport started off on a good note. The representative seemed friendly and experienced and I felt I was in good hands. There must have been some miscommunication, however between this company and the dispatch because I was called by a truck driver saying he would be picking up my car two days earlier than we had discussed. When I spoke with Christos about this, I was contacted by another dispatch unit saying the drivers had been changed and the car would be picked up as planned. I was then contacted a third time with news that the car would be picked up a day early, giving me two hours to have the car ready.
Once the car was picked up, I was relieved the ordeal was over with and everything was fine until I landed a few days later in Arizona. At this time, around 8pm, I called the truck driver who had dropped my car in a parking lot near the airport instead of at my residence as planned. He stated that he had picked up another car and could not load mine again to drop it at my place. So I had to catch a taxi to the parking lot pick up my car and then have him follow me to my place because my checked bags would not fit in my car. When I saw the car, it was covered in some sort of oily fluid that the truck driver said was hydraulic fluid from the truck. He said normally he would have washed it, but was in a hurry and said I could just was it in the morning. He proceeded to follow me to my place, where he made it obvious that he was in a hurry and rushed me through a check of my car in the dark parking lot, then prompted me to sign the paperwork.
It wasn't until morning that I was able to see the damage to my car. Along the rocker panels on both sides of the car, there was a roughly 3 inch by 2 inch chunk of car missing (roughly a half inch deep). It was not a scratch in the paint or dent in the body, there was literally a section of paint and gravelguard completely missing. I later found out this was most likely from bottoming out while moving the car around on the truck.
When I contacted Domestic Auto Transport, Christos kept telling me that he had notified the Owner of the company, who would contact me soon. This never took place and when I followed up with him I was told that the owner of the company was trying to meet with the driver first to get his version of the story and would then be sure to follow up with me. I never heard from anyone representing Domestic Auto Transport regarding this issue and naturally the driver never answered his phone after that night and I could not leave a voicemail because his mailbox has remained full. I am very disappointed by the way I was treated by Domestic Auto Transport and although the driver is the one who damaged my car and made me feel rushed and hurried to sign the paperwork, I would have expected Domestic Auto Transport to at least try to help me resolve the issue and if nothing else, at least return my many phone calls. I will never use this company again, nor let anyone I care about ship their automobile through this company.
