Pleasant experience with dispatcher, unpleasant experience with carrier

My interaction with Domestic Auto Transport and Kimberly, their representative, was positive.

However, as is the case with dispatched carrier services such as this, DAT is simply posting the offer for any of a number of carriers to pick up. My problem was with the carrier in this case, Big Star Transportation. The details:

- I was promised that the carrier would notify me when their truck picked up the vehicle. They did not contact me. I only learned that they had picked up the vehicle when I called to coordinate the pickup time.

- I was promised that they would inform me of any delays in their progress to the destination. They did not contact me when their truck stopped for repairs, at a destination less than 50 miles from me. Considering they trucked my vehicle over 1600 miles, you'd think they would let me know they'd broken down within 50 miles of the destination. Unfortunately, they didn't think it was worth calling. I only learned of the vehicle's location after I called to inquire the status.

- Once I learned where my vehicle was, I asked to come pick it up. When I arrived at the trucking yard, I saw one of the Big Star employees doing donuts in the middle of the gravel lot, with what appeared to be a customer's vehicle. When I checked my car, I found gravel in places it could not be with normal usage (inside the frame, on top of the leaf springs, etc). The car's wheels and side panels were dusted with the gravel dust that would result from doing donuts in a dusty gravel parking lot. The transfer case was also in 4x4 low when I first entered the car. When I asked the Big Star employee for an explanation, he stated that the gravel came from the road, along the shipping route, which was clearly not true. Rather than get into a dispute in the middle of an abandoned trucking yard, with my family in a car nearby, I paid to take delivery of my vehicle and left.

As a result of this experience, I will probably not ship a vehicle across the country again. And while my negative experience doesn't stem directly from anything Domestic Auto did, the overall experience was unpleasant and frustrating.

Kimberly@Domesticautotransport.com 360-853-2814 CALL OR EMAIL ME ANYTIME DIRECTLY FOR A FREE QUOTE! Peter, Thank you for saying I was positive. As for the carrier issues, you might want to leave them review as well for their services on here as well. I am sorry the carrier promised you things, which is why we never promise or guarantee things because they can run into delays and issues. As for the gravel on your vehicle, you never informed me of any issues, so I did not know about it, so could not help you with the situation. Again I am sorry the carrier was not pleasant but an glad that you liked Domestic Auto Transport. If you would like to leave a review for them on here as well, please look them up. If you do that, please consider changing your review for just domestic. Thank you so much!
