I shipped my car from Hawaii to Texas using Domestic Auto Transport (DAT). They definitely provided the cheapest quote among ~10 transport companies I inquired. I was helped by Naomi was very friendly to talk and was always helpful whenever I called. I got my car dropped off on Dec 29, 2011 in Hawaii and received it in Texas on 20th Jan 2012. I was told to pay the driver $700 at the time of delivery, but he charged me $800. When I called Naomi regarding the discrepancy, she told me that she charged me $100 less for the deposit on my credit card and I can pay the driver $800. Instead of waiting to find the cheaper carrier to deliver my car late, DAT reduced their deposit to pay extra to the carrier to get my car delivered on time and within the quoted price.

Few complaints/suggestions: As a customer, I would definitely like to be updated in advance about the expected delivery day so I can arrange the CASH I need to pay the delivery driver. This is the first time I shipped my car and had no idea how much time it takes to deliver a car from Hawaii to Texas. I wish DAT had sent me a small email telling me the estimated delivery dates when I can expect to get my car or they can have an online tracking system where people can see the updates and track their vehicles. I was also not informed about the change in the amount I needed to pay to the delivery driver. These payments have to made in CASH and most people do not carry cash all the time. A heads up would have been nicer.
