Reputable shipping broker

Domestic did a good job as a shipping broker, arranging a prompt transport during my time frame. Jessica was excellent to work with through the shipping process.

The only criticism I have is that the shipping brokers in general should give the customer more warning / advice about dealing with the actual shippers, especially on how to avoid problems, or how to deal with problems if they occur. Once the car is picked up, the customer is pretty much on his own, and totally so after delivery. There is not much the broker can help you with after delivery. Hopefully they will avoid using a bad shipper in the future.

Unfortunately I ended up with a bad shipper who caused some damage to both cars and I am now dealing with the hassles of that process since they are denying responsibility. In a nutshell, the shipper got there earlier than the earliest possible delivery date given to us and we could not be there yet. So in order to not make the driver wait an extra day, I had to have someone else sign for the cars and the damage was not noticed at the time of the hurried and hectic drop off. As a result of being too accommodating and not being able to inspect the cars carefully myself, we got screwed and technically gave the shipper a way to deny responsibility. However, this is not over yet as far as I'm concerned.

Personally I will not ship a car again, and this was not a good experience. But if you have to, my advice is to never sign anything unless there is no question that it is accurate and you won't get burned. Inspect the car for damage very carefully since there can be fairly subtle but significant damage that may be hard to see on quick or casual inspection, especially by someone else who may not know the car. Once you sign off on delivery, you're stuck if you find a problem afterward. Do not get badgered into doing something that helps the shipper but can hurt you.
