I've never heard of Direct Express AT until I read the reviews on transportreviews.com, but of course being a website I never heard of, I was skeptical both of the validity of the reviews and of Direct Express AT too. I narrowed my search down to 3 carriers, with them being the cheapest. So naturally, I was going to throw them out and go with one of the more popular names out there. It so happened I was talking with a family friend who's a GM at a new car dealership and asked him who they use to ship cars, and he mentioned they normally rent a whole trailer, but when they don't, he's used a company called Direct Express AT for many years. Bingo! A completely honest review from a source I can trust, that backs up the reviews on transportreviews.com. So I chose them to ship my car.
This is the first time I've shipped a car, and didn't understand the process using ATD. I figured it was like shipping household goods, but they're different. You don't pick a day for pick-up, you give them a date when your car is "available". They then try to arrange pick-up as soon as possible thereafter. That was the hardest part for me but now that I know this process, I know what to expect next time.
The driver of the car carrier was a great guy as well. He communicated with me before pick-up, told me he wouldn't go into my subdivision because of the oak tree's and was nervous about scratching cars on the carrier (which I really appreciated), called me the day before his "anticipated" deliver day that he was going to be on time, and delivered the car perfectly without damage. I was impressed with his attention to detail, inspecting the car before he put it on the carrier, locking it down, and doing all the things necessary for a safe drive. I was very nervous about putting my car on a carrier and handing the keys over to a guy I didn't know, but after meeting the driver at the pick-up, I was completely at ease and confident in him.
Overall, after understanding the pick-up window process, this was a great experience. And the best thing I can say is, I'd definitely use ATD again.
